Frugal Kids Birthday Party

Recently I posted about the Pirates and Princesses Party I was planning for my 5 year. It did not go as planned. For reasons outside of my control I was unable to have it at my house. I discovered this the day I got back from FinCon. The party was planned to be held in 4 days, so not a lot of time to do anything about it.

Instead of everything I had planned, we moved the party to the park up the road from my house. Kids still came dressed up and they had a great time playing at the park.

I laid a blanket on the ground and the kids were so excited to be having a picnic, especially my daughter. I just had chips, fairy bread, sausage rolls and some cup cakes. It was held mid afternoon, so we didn’t need a lot. In case you don’t know what fairy bread is, it is just bread, buttered and covered in sprinkles.

I did face painting on all the kids, well the girls. The boys were not interested. Butterflies, love hearts and stars were the favourite things to have painted on cheeks.

I have never done it before, but my sister had given me face paints a while ago and I figured it couldn’t be too hard to do some basic things for 5 year olds.

I managed to forget the cake, but since I had cupcakes we stuck candles in them instead, then my daughter got another cake when she got home. I was so glad she picked the easiest design possible.

We also played pass the parcel and everyone got a prize. I’m so glad the weather was good and everyone had a fun time. It cost hardly anything, but the birthday girl had her party and that was all that mattered to me.

  1. Looks like the kids had a blast during the party! We don’t really have to spend a lot to celebrate our kid’s birthdays. Well.. because I don’t have one just yet. My is due in January 🙂 However, I can’t wait to plan my little girls bday’s
